The Wisent is also known as the European Bison.  It is the heaviest land mammal in Europe but is extinct in most places.  They are similar in appearance to the American Bison, but are not the same animal. The majority of the remaining wild population are found in the Białowieża Forest, Poland.  It is the national mammal of Poland.
