If you\’re looking to sell a piece of music gear and you don\’t need the money immediately, your first choice should be selling it on Ebay, Craigslist, Reverb, social media groups, or directly to a neighbor. You will definitely get the most money this way, if you\’re able to wait a little bit. Second choice after that would be selling it \”on consignment\” at a local music store that offers this. With this method, you can work with the store to determine the highest price you can sell it for, since both of you will be profiting from it. In my experience, you get the lion\’s share of the sale and the store gets the commission, but stores\’ policies may differ. The last choice is the worst – selling your item directly to the store. Only do this if you are ABSOLUTELY DESPERATE and need the money right away!! You will only get a tiny fraction of what the item is worth. In the past, before I started selling online, I had to do this to raise cash quickly, and I deeply regret it now. At least this information might help some people.
