I did try a couple of the survey sites and was dissatisfied. One I would get halfway through the survey and they would tell me I ineligible after spending ten minutes, and another was offering 11 cents for a 20 minute survey. Not worth my time and then I got hundreds of spam emails a day after I signed up for the surveys on that email address.
We put an antenna up and get more free channels than we can watch, reception is better quality than cable was for tv. Why pay for grainy local stations?
The local library can also let you get digital books online for free when you get an account.
Free / low cost haircuts at a beauty school is not a route I’ll try. I received far too many bad haircuts from salons and my children from the barbershop from people who had completed their training, had their license and were supposed to know what they were doing, let alone spending hours letting someone practice on me. I save more going the DIY route after getting instructions from YouTube videos and blogs. It would cost me more in transportation costs, time and hassle to drive to one of the beauty schools, than to set the chair outside to do my children’s haircuts and to take a seat on the stool to get my tresses trimmed by my husband. DIY is the smarter route for me, no gambling on getting a horrible haircut.
I ditched the newspaper years ago as their is so much much free content online.
