Now the highest I believe is 3x. But in the above article all I hear is the cost of gas money but no one considers the wear and tear on your car (tires, brakes, engine repairs, etc). I believe the Federal IRS mileage rate is 56 cents a mile. That includes gas and wear and tear on your car. So when you factor the mileage costs (miles driven to pick up the passenger and miles to drop them off you are making peanuts. I would calculate how many miles I drove that day for Uber and then looked at the pay and did the math. Ride sharing is a total waste of time.
